This illustration is inspired by the Tree of Life. The Tree of Life (also known as the Cosmic Tree or Sacred Tree) is a beautiful tree with sturdy branches reaching into the sky and deep roots firmly anchored in the ground.

The Tree of Life is a symbol that appears in many cultures, each carrying its own meaning. In general, it can be said that it is a symbol of life and a connection to everything around us, both visible and invisible.

It represents life in the here and now, moving along with all the changes: the seasons, day and night, rest & stillness, and action & growth. It is also a connection to all that is invisible. From Celtic beliefs, the roots point to the other world, the trunk to the mortal world, and the branches to the upper world/heaven. Thus, the Tree of Life also connects the earthly world with spiritual realms. All in all, it is a symbol with deep and profound meaning.

The illustration was first sketched on paper and then digitally worked out. It incorporates analog materials and textures, such as paint textures and hand-made marbled paper.
